According to many researchers, the reason behind ear ringing is that when there is vibration from the outer world it causes some tiny bones to move. These bones are movable from a slight vibration and are located behind the eardrum. The vibration then reaches a fluid chamber and many tiny hair cells which are within this chamber picks up and this goes to the brain as electric impulses. The brain then converts these signals as sounds. However, sometimes the cells of hair may be damaged and these may result in the burst of electricity to the ear nerves. In other words the hair cells may turn on even when there is no noise in the surrounding.
