Home remedies for ants with plants and boric acid:

Ants get repelled by spearmint, tansy and penny royal. Place these plants close to the home to get rid off ants. Place sweet fern to keep red ants out of your home.
Combine 3 cups of water, 4 teaspoons of boric acid and 1 cup of sugar. You can also combine 1 cup of corn syrup with 2 tablespoons of boric acid and wipe off you floor to combat ants.

Home remedies for ants with vinegar, water and kerosene:

  • Combine equal quantity of vinegar and water to distract ants. Spray vinegar around the window frames, under appliances and the doors to kill ants.
  • Wipe the floor and the place around the dishes with a cloth soaked in kerosene. You can also place the food dish within a larger dish containing water. The smell of kerosene will repel the ants from roaming around a food dish.

Home remedies for ants using borax, confectioner's sugar and tea bags:

  • Combine equal quantity of confectioner sugar with borax. Spread the mixture to the ant active spots. The ants take the mixture back to their nest which kills rest of the ant's colony. This is an effective ant control remedy at home.
  • Use a tea bag filled with mint tea to control ants. Place the tea bags in their most active spots.
  • Also place crushed and dry cloves or mint leaves to the ant active spots to combat your ant problem.

Home remedies for ants using soapy water and peanut butter, boric acid and jelly blend:

  • Fill a small spray bottle with soapy water. Spray to the areas to ward off the ants.
  • Combine 1 part of brown sugar with six parts of peanut butter. Then add 1 part boric acid and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Place this on a sheet of paper to control ants.
  • Boric acid, jelly blend and peanut butter also help to control a large number of common household ants. This remedy efficiently treats crowd of odorous house ants, little black ants, acrobat ants, pavement ants and pharaoh ants. Prepare the mixture by combining 2 tablespoons each of peanut butter, jelly with 1 tablespoon of boric acid. Place this bait on a sheet of paper in the ant's active locations. Keep children and pets out of the reach.

Home remedies for ants with cinnamon and alcohol:

  • Place a cinnamon stick in the path of ants. It also helps to prevent ants from entering through windows and doors. In some cases they do not even dare to cross it.
  • To treat most species of ant combine 40% water, 20% dish soap and 40% alcohol. Some ants and other insects even die upon contact. This combination helps to eradicate the chemical trail left behind by ants. So other ants are unable to find the same path to your home.

Home remedies for ants with boiling water, duct tape and instant grits:

  • Spot the ant active areas and pour boiling water on them.
  • Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of Instant Grits over each ant mound to get rid of ants.
  • Drape a piece of Duct Tape around the trunk of the plant or tree with the sticky side outside. This is useful for removing ants that are destroying your plants, trees and shrubs.

Home remedies for ants with yeast sugar mix, garlic onion mix and salt

  • Combine together 1 part sugar, 2 parts molasses and 1 part active yeast. Place 1 teaspoon of the mixture, at a time onto pieces of paper. Tactically place the pieces of paper where the ant problem is obvious or along the ant trails. This is also the safest ant home remedies as it contains no chemicals.
  • Add 1 clove of garlic, 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper and 1 small onion to a quart of water. Allow the mixture to settle for 1 hour. Then add 1 tablespoon of dish washing liquid soap. Pour the concoction in a spray bottle. Spray it around the ant active areas of the house. This is also one of the safe ant home remedies as it contains no chemicals.
  • Spread table salt around baseboards, window sills and door thresholds or on any ant infested areas. You will find that salt repels ants.
