Cracked heals are referred to as heal fissures and is a common foot problem. The reason for this is because of excessive dryness of the skin called xerosis. This can be further complicated if the skin around the rim of the feet is thick. Usually the condition becomes worse during winter and dry climates. In due time if the heals are left untreated, the skin become dry and cracked.

The skin problems like cracked heals can be a symptom of other health issue like diabetes and other skin related problems. It may also indicate deficiency in zinc and omega-3 fatty acid.

  • Flaky red patches

  • The skin can become itchy

Home Remedies for Cracked Heals using hydrogenated vegetable oil and banana

  • Wash the cracked heal with warm water and then towel dry. After this apply a thick coat of any hydrogenated oil. Wear a thick pair of socks and leave this overnight. Continue this for a week to see some effective results.
  • One of the common home remedies is the application of the pulp of a ripe banana. Use this and apply on the cracked heal and leave it for ten to fifteen minutes. After this clean it with water and towel dry.

Home Remedies for Cracked Heals using lemon juice

  • To treat the crack heals, there is another remedy which involves soaking of the feet in lemon juice for around ten minutes. Continue this on weekly basis and finally you can notice the change on your feet.

Home Remedies for Cracked Heals using glycerin and paraffin wax

  • The use of the mixture of glycerin and rose water on regular basis is an excellent treatment for cracked heals.
  • A medicinal solution is prepared by melting a little amount of paraffin wax and few drops of mustard oil. Mix them well and apply on the cracked feet. Keep this overnight and rinse it well in the morning. Continue this for 15-20 days to see some effective results.

  • One of the best home remedies for cracked heals is the application of sesame oil before going to bed and keeping it for the whole night.
  • You can also go for coconut oil and use this for massaging and keep it overnight before going to sleep. This is an effective treatment for cracked heals.

Home Remedies for Cracked Heals using papaya and pumice stone

  • First you need to soak the feet in warm water as this will loosen the dry skin of the feet and then scrub it with the help of a pumice stone.
  • Prepare a mixture of papaya and a little amount of lemon juice. And apply on the affected heal. Keep this for twenty minutes before washing them off.

Home Remedies for Cracked Heals using honey and olive oil

  • To make the feet softer soak them in a solution prepared from warm water and a cup of honey. Soak it for 10 to 15 minutes which will heel the dryness of the feet and make it soft and supple.
  • Application of olive oil is also helpful for the treatment of cracked heals. Rub olive oil gently onto the feet and leave it overnight. For better result wear a sock after the application of the oil.
