Home Remedies for Dog Ear Mites

If you find your dog frequently shaking or nodding its head, the reason may be ear infection. Ear mites are one of the factors which cause ear infection. You must keep the ears dry and clean to protect from ear mites. There are excellent home remedies for dog ear mites which eradicates the mites.

Vinegar: Mix Vinegar with water in 1:1 proportion. Put a few drops in ears. It helps to loosen the abnormally accumulated wax. Wrap soft cotton cloth of cotton, swab around you finger and clean the ear.
Garlic and Olive oil: Soak a garlic pod in olive oil at night. Remove the garlic pod in the morning. Put 5 to 7 drops of oil twice a day in your doggie's ears. Follow this for a week or ten days.
Almond Oil and Vitamin E: Mix a small amount of almond oil and vitamin E mixture. Warm it and put approximately 1/2 eyedropper of mixture in each ear. Massage the ears and then only allow the dog to shake its head. Follow this for 6 to 7 days. Wait for three to four days and repeat the cycle. This suffocates the mites and helps in healing the infection. This is one of the proven remedies for ear mites in dogs.
Olive oil or Vegetable oil: With a dropper or syringe put few drops of vegetable oil or olive oil in the ears. It reduces the uneasiness due to mites.
Hydrogen Peroxide and Wheat germ oil: Mix 1/2 teaspoon wheat germ oil in 3 ml water. Add Hydrogen peroxide. Place this mixture in a bowl and place it another bowl of warm water. This mixture should not be directly heated. Add few drops of this mixture in the ears to get rid of mites.
Aloe Vera: It is also a very effective remedy in case of chronic ear infection. With the help of syringe or dropper, add few drops into ears and gently massage it. Follow this procedure once for three days.
Yellow Dock Root Extract: Mix 9 drops of Yellow dock root extract with one tablespoon of water. With eyedropper, inset the drops in the ears of your doggie, and massage well. Take care that the dog should not shake its head before massaging it. Follow this once every three days. Follow this cycle for six weeks. This is one of the natural remedies to kill the ear mites.
Mita Clear: Mita-Clear lotion is available in pet medical shop helps to kill adult ear mites as well as ear mites in larval stage. It acts as an insect repellant too.
Corn Oil: Add few drops of corn oil in your doggie's ears. Massage well and clean it gently with a cotton swab. Follow this once for three days.
Oregano oil: Add 1/2 teaspoon oregano to olive oil. Keep it as it is for a day or two. Strain it through cloth. Put half a dropper into each of the ears twice a day. Massage it well. This is one of the effective remedies to treat ear mites.
Mullein and Garlic: Mullein is an excellent herb to treat ear mites. The antiviral properties of Mullein, with the antibiotic properties of garlic are highly effective to treat ear infections due to mites. Mix mullein oil and garlic oil in 1:1 proportion. Add 10 to 20 drops of olive oil to it. Put the solution by eyedropper and massage well.
Oregon grape: The oil infusion of this herb is highly effective in case of ear mites in dogs. This herb is rich with antibiotic as well as antibacterial properties. Put 5 to 10 drops with eyedropper to each ear and massage well. Follow this twice a day till the infection due to mites is cured.
Calendula: Mix 1 teaspoon of calendula and 1/2 tea spoon of salt in 1 cup distilled water. Put this solution to your doggie's ears. When it shakes the head the ears get flushed. Repeat it twice or thrice a day. It is one of the effective remedy to treat ear mites.
Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea Tree Oil), Rosmarinus officinale (Rosemary), and Verbascum thapsus: All these herbs smoothens the ear passage and helps to get relief from itching and ear infection due to mites.
Vidang: It is an excellent herb which prevents the infections which slowly develops in ears.
Turmeric and Sesame oil: Add turmeric powder in sesame oil. Put 5 to 10 drops of oil in the ears. This is one of the excellent remedies over ear mites and bacterial infection too.
