Home Remedies for Dry Feet

Dry skin can occur any time in a year and is a common problem in winters. These can be really unattractive and make you feel really uncomfortable. Instead of going out and purchasing some very expensive home products for the dry feet, use some natural and effective home remedies for dry feet. This will make them soft, touchable and beautiful!

There are basically two main causes of dry feet which can be internal or external. Medical condition can be one reason for dry feet. External cause includes surroundings and situations that can take away the moisture from the feet and lead to dry problem. This is not a serious problem but may lead to some other medical issues.

Causes of Dry Feet:

  • Lack of water and fluid intake.
  • Soaps which contain petroleum jelly. When this are used for a longer period, it makes the feet prone to dryness.
  • Skin diseases which include eczema, psoriasis which are all responsible to make the skin and feet dry.
  • If the humidity level in the air drops then this may be another reason that may lead to dry feet.
  • Excessive bathing can take away the natural and essential from the body.
  • This can be side-effect due to other medications.

Try some of the following methods to moisten your feet at home:

  • Vinegar is excellent that will help to reduce the dryness of the feet. You simply have to soak your feet in a solution of warm water. Add few drops of dishwashing liquid and a cup of vinegar. Keep your feet soaked for at least half an hour. After this rinse your feet properly and pat them dry. Use a moisturizer lotion and wear a clean cotton socks. This will help to get rid of your dry feet.
  • Another method you can try out is by using baking soda. Add to half a bucket of warm water some baking soda and stir these well. After the soda dissolves, soak your feet in it for at least 30 minutes. After this rinse with clean water and dry it properly and use some good moisturizer cream. For better results wear a socks as this will prevent dust particles sticking to them.
  • To remove dead cells from your feet, use some salicylic acid which is found in many hair products. Use a small brush to apply this on the dry feet and leave this for sometime. Wash with either warm or cold water and apply some foot cream. After all these cover your feet with a pair of socks. The socks will help to hold moisture from the feet and also prevent dust particles sticking to it.
  • Epsom salt works well to prevent any kind of dry feet. Soak your feet in a solution of water containing Epsom salt and keep this for about 20-30 minutes. This will remove the rough skin and make them soft.
  • Get rid of the dead cells with the help of a pumice stone. Keep one thing in mind not to rub the feet too hard. Use this gently.
  • Olive oil can also be effective to moisturize the feet. Cooking and mustard oil can also be used to reduce the dryness of the feet. Never forget to wear cotton socks after the application of a moisturizer. Wear it throughout the night.
  • You can prepare a natural mask at home. For this you need to make a paste of ripe banana and to this you need to add some fresh milk cream, mix these well before applying them on the feet. Use this and mask your feet and keep it for sometime before you rinse them off. This will help you get subtle and soft feet.
  • You can also prepare a cream for your feet using a cup of honey, a handful of sea salt and few drops of lavender oil. This is effective to get rid of the dry feet after patting them dry.
  • Another very simple option you can prepare by using a ripe avocado which is mixed with a cup of buckwheat and to make it more soothing add few drops of lavender oil to it.
  • You can also massage your dry feet with some olive oil and then soak them in warm bath for about 15 minutes. Scrub gently and then use a good moisturizer cream.

These home remedies for dry feet are much better than other foot creams which may contain expensive chemicals. These are much simpler and do not cost you much either.
