Home Remedies for Ear Wax Removal

Ear Wax Removal Remedies

Ear wax as understood by many of us is not a dirty material. It is actually formed by the wax glands or ceruminous of the ear canal to solve some important purposes. It moisturizes the inside of the ear canal and prevents the skin irritation. It has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties to protect the ear from any type of infection. This sticky, yellow substance also guards the inner parts of the ear by entrapping dust, pollen, dirt, etc. Due to the stickiness it can stop the entry of foreign substances deeper into the ear canal. So many experts recommends that ear wax should not be removed unless it cause serious ear problems like temporary hearing loss. Try some home remedies for ear wax removal which are as follows:

One of the most common home remedies for ear wax removal using cotton swabs:

  • Cotton swabs are most common ear wax removal techniques at home. However this simple remedy is not at all safe for cleaning inside of the ear canal. Instead clean the outer portion of the ear. If you push the cotton swab deep inside the ear canal it can simultaneously push the ear wax further deep inside the ear canal. This can puncture the eardrum and cause blockage of the ear canal. If you want to use it use it carefully on the outer portion of the ear canal.

Home remedies for ear wax removal using hydrogen peroxide:

  • Hydrogen peroxide is one of the safest home remedy for ear wax removal. Apply 2 to 3 drops of hydrogen peroxide inside the ear canal. Do this for 3 consecutive days. Let it stay for about 5 minutes. Then tilt your head to the opposite side to let it come out of the ear. Hydrogen peroxide softens ear wax and makes it easier to come out. Pour some warm water after 3 days into the ear to wash out ear wax. You can use ear wax removal tools like bulb syringe to take out dirt form inside of the car. Then slant your head to the opposite side to drain out the water. Immerse a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol and press it to pour a few drops into the ear. Then lean your head to the other side and let the alcohol run out of your ear. However, hydrogen peroxide should not be used in a sensitive ear canal. Also make sure that your ear drums are not punctured before applying hydrogen peroxide. So try the home remedies for ear wax removal to get rid of wax only if it is causing serious problems in your ear.
