- Stretched or shiny skin
- A dimple that is retained on the skin after the skin is pressed several seconds
- Abdominal size increase.

The doctor may undergo some physical exam and medical history to confirm the condition. The following are the tests that may help in identifying the cause:
- Urinalysis
- Blood tests
- Measuring the pressure in certain blood vessels like that in the jugular vein.

Home Remedies for Edema using mustard oil and apple cider vinegar
- One of the best home remedies for edema is mustard oil. You can use this oil and massage on the affected area for quite sometime.

- Apple cider vinegar is an excellent treatment for edema. The vinegar reduces and gets rid of the excess fluid in the cells and cavities.

- For pregnancy related edema, try keeping the feet for ten minutes under running cold water. This will relief the pain and uneasiness associated with edema.
