Other causes of nose bleed are:

  • Trauma to the nose

A basic symptom of such kind of bleeding is the flow of blood from the nose. In addition to this you may also feel the pressure around the nasal region.

However, if the bleeding of blood is heavy then this may fill the affected nostril and causes the nasopharynx to overflow which finally cause the other nostril to bleed also. In worst scenario, the blood can drip into the throat and finally go to the stomach which may result in a vomit blood. The excessive loss in blood may result in the following symptoms and signs:

  • Weakness and fatigue
  • Dizziness
  • Confusion

Types of Nose Bleeds

Usually there are two different kinds of nosebleeds which depend on where it occurs.

  • Anterior nosebleed is the type of nose bleed which occurs from the front of the nose and it occurs because the fine capillaries break and thus cause bleeding.
  • The posterior nosebleed occurs at the deepest region of the nose and may begin flow back towards the throat. This type of nose bleeding is common to people who suffer nose and face injury especially older people.

  • One of the basic home remedies for nose bleeds is to use ice. You can use ice wrapped in a towel and apply on the cheeks and outside of the nose. This is because blood vessels constrict quickly when they are cold.
  • To clot the blood use white vinegar. You can dip a cotton ball or a clean cloth in the solution of white vinegar and gently apply on the sides of the bleeding nose. Place the cotton ball inside for at least 10 to 15 minutes as clotting of the blood requires some time.

  • Baking soda can be used for nasal irrigation which is a procedure which involves the rinsing of the nasal passages and can stop nose bleeding.

Hence, it is necessary to keep them well hydrated by drinking at least 8-9 glasses of water in a day. This water intake should be increased during the dry season and in dry places.
  • Nasal irrigation, one of the common home remedies for nose bleeds that can occur from allergies, can help to moisturize, soothe and reduce the irritation of the nasal membranes. Add a pinch of salt in a bowl of water and use this saline water to spray in the nose. The dehumidifying and anticoagulant property reduces the dryness of the nose and finally stops the bleeding.

  • According to experts, lemon can be used to stop nose bleeding. This has antiseptic property that can be used to promote the coagulation of blood.
