  • A great natural conditioner is the beer. First you need to let out the fizz and use the liquid as a conditioner for your hair.
  • For the bouncy look, you can try a mixture of water and lemon juice. Use this to rinse your hair.
  • If you have dry hair, then use honey as this is a naturally moisturizes your hair. As this may be sticky if used directly so firstly prepare a lotion of honey. This can be done by using two teaspoon of honey with a pint of water.
  • Another product that you can use at home is the henna. This is a natural conditioner that benefits the hair and gives the extra bounce and shine to the hair.
  • Baking soda is also effective to give the hair the extra shiny look by adding a small amount of this in the shampoo. In addition to this, it removes the grease and dirt from the hair.
  • You can also prepare a shampoo at home which will be completely free from the harsh chemicals. You'll first need one egg, a teaspoon of olive oil or any other essential oil, a tablespoon of castile soap, a half cup of water, a teaspoon of citrus fruit like lemon juice. Mix them all properly that can be used as a shampoo which will help to give your hair some extra shine.

The home remedies for shiny hair can help you restore the shine that you have lost due to the harsh ultraviolet rays and the chemicals you use. It may surprise you that using shampoo and conditioner regularly can take away the natural shine of the hair.

  • Vinegar has been proven to restore and retain the shine of hair. It also helps to get rid of the excess build up of shampoo and conditioner. Hence you can keep some amount of vinegar in a spray bottle and use on the hair before you rinse with water.
  • After shampoo, you can use a mixture of vinegar and some lukewarm water to apply on the hair. Keep this for at least 10-15 minutes before the final rinse with water.
  • For that extra shine in your hair you can try some mayonnaise on your hair instead of using them in salads and other dressing for a change. This is excellent for dry and rough hair and curls as well. Use this for an hour and finally rinse with lukewarm water.
  • Another method you can try at home is by using two cups of some distilled water and add 1/3 cup of rosemary leaves and allow this to boil for quite sometime. Spray this liquid after it cools to bring the natural shine to the hair. Apart from this it also helps to tone the scalp.
  • Milk is another excellent ingredient which helps to restore the shine of the hair. Use some milk in the hair and rinse it off after sometime using some cold water. After this use some ices cubes and apply along the length of the hair and then comb your hair.
  • Ripe avocado also helps to bring the extra natural shine to the hair. This fruit can be mixed with some mayonnaise and used in the hair to make the hair shiny, soft and manageable.
  • A mixture of yogurt and beaten egg can be applied on the hair for few hours before washing them off. This strengthens and makes the hair extremely shiny and soft as well.

Some of the tips that will ensure and retain the shine in your hair are:

  • Massage your hair regularly with oil like that of virgin coconut oil.
  • Cover your hair with a scarf or any cloth that will avoid any dirt and dust entering your hair directly and also prevent friction of the hair that may result in hair fall and breakage.
  • Wash your hair every alternate day or whenever you feel it is dirty.
  • Avoid using hot water as this damages the texture of the hair and leads to hair breakage.
  • Never apply conditioner to the roots of the hair.
  • Allow a cool blast of hair on the hair which will seal the cuticle after this is completely dry. This will give a natural shine to your hair.
