A common problem for people having long is the tangling and knotting of hair. This can be extremely painful as well as frustrating to get rid of tangled hair. Tangled hair can be prevented and resolved easily by using some effective and natural home remedies for tangled hair. Some of these are listed below:

  • Oil your hair regularly at least once a week or twice a week for people having very dry hair. Warm this oil and hydrate the locks and keep it in this manner overnight. This is extremely effective for dry and damaged hair. Use a plastic shower cap while conditioning and moisturizing and leave this hair for around ten minutes. Wash it and rinse this well.
  • A moisturizing shampoo will hydrate the locks and prevent any kind of tangling. If your hair is dry than do not wash it everyday instead wash it every alternate day or whenever you feel it's dirty. This will help the scalp and hair to retain the moisture as well.
  • A conditioner that contains shea butter milk or some cocoa butter is effective to treat the problem. Use only appropriate amount of the cream and work this well through the hair shaft. This will de-tangle the hair and prevent any such kind of detangling in the future. Leave the conditioner for about ten minutes before you rinse them off.
  • Usually tangles occur at the end of the hair. Hence make sure to use a deep conditioner at the ends as this will soften the hair and prevent any tangling.
  • A live in conditioner is very effective when used in damp hair and if possible go for some baby oil which contains very gentle ingredients and do not contain any harsh chemicals. Distribute this all around the hair and separate this using a wide toothed comb or your fingers.
  • Comb your hair when it is slightly wet. But use only a wide toothed comb and never brush your hair when they are wet. This is because hair is likely to get more damaged prone when it is wet and wet are more delicate than dry strands.

Other tips that will help for the healthy growth of hair and preventing tangles are:

  • The best way to prevent tangled hair is detangling them before you go for a hair wash. As you may know that hair gets tangled on its own and if you wash them without detangling them can make it all the worse after the hair wash.
  • If you notice that the hair is tangled already use some dime-sized oil to loosen the tangled hair. This will make it easier to detangle the hair.
  • If accidentally a gum sticks to your hair use some products like olive oil, mayonnaise, peanut butter that will soften the tangled hair.
  • As one of the cause of tangled hair is the friction between the pillow and hair, for this try using satin pillow covers. You can also pull away the hair back and prevent any kind of movements that may result in tangling.
  • Another way to treat tangled hair is by using apple cider vinegar that will eliminate unwanted frizzy hair that may finally lead to tangled hair. Use a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a cup of warm water and use this for the purpose of rinsing. Allow this to penetrate thoroughly and stay in the hair for quite sometime. This is an effective method to get rid of tangled hair.
  • While combing your hair divide the hair into small sections and than comb. Begin detangling from the tips and than slowly and gradually move to the tips. This will prevent unnecessary breakage of the hair.
  • You can also use baking soda to detangle your hair. Use one tablespoon of baking soda and mix these with three tablespoon of the conditioner and make a good blend out of it. Use this on the tangled hair and cover the entire sections of your hair. This is effective for detangling your hair.
  • Another method is to use a deep conditioner and keep this overnight to avoid any kind of tangling of your hair. You can use a shower cap or use a towel to wrap the hair to prevent getting this on your bed and prevent any kind of leakage. The next morning wash and rinse your hair as usual.
