  • Yogurt contains the friendly bacteria that can be used to kill the yeast infections or the harmful bacteria. After you swish the mouth with yogurt do not eat anything else as this can make your condition worse.
  • Another effective that you can give a try is the grapefruit seed extract. This is found beneficial for the treatment of oral thrush. You can mix these with a cup of water and dip a cotton ball in this solution and swab the affected area. Continue to do so once in every hour. You may see that your condition improves from the next day onwards.
  • Rinsing mouth with saline water also works well to reduce the symptoms associated with thrush. All you need to swish and rinse the mouth and finally spit out.
  • You can also try other natural ways to treat thrush by mixing some tincture of myrrh, Licorice and Echinacea. This can be used in your mouthwash and be taken within every 3-4 hours.
  • Clove oil also works well in the treatment of thrush. These have some very good antifungal properties. Clove oil can be really strong so dilute the solution with some plain water or in any carrier oil or coconut oil.
  • Coconut oil is also beneficial for thrush and can be used in both adults and infants. The best of all these is to use virgin coconut oil which can reduce the symptoms considerably.
  • For adult thrush you can try oregano oil. This can reduce the symptoms associated with the mouth infections.
  • Baking soda solutions can be effective for oral thrush as well. You simply have to mix a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and swipe the mouth which will help you kill all the infections that are found in the mouth.

Preventive measures and tips for thrush:

  • Have a good control over your blood sugar levels.
  • Involve high fiber food in your diet.
  • Practice some very good oral habits such as brushing twice a day and flossing one time a day is effective to reduce the chances of getting thrush.
