- Alder pollens that includes almonds, apples, cherries, pears and peaches.
- Ragweed pollens are found in cucumbers, bananas, watermelon, cantaloupe, zucchini, dandelions, chamomile tea, Echinacea.
- Apricots, apples, almonds, chicory, kiwi fruits, potatoes, prunes, soy, strawberries, and wheat all come under birch pollen.
- Grass pollens are found in melons, tomatoes, oranges.
- Mugwort pollen like colery, peppers, carroys, fennel, celery, parsley and sunflower.
Oral Allergy Syndrome Test
To know whether a person is sensitive to the foods mentioned above, it is necessary to undergo a skin test that will determine the sensitivity is present or not. There is an accurate test called prick-prick test and is done by dipping a needle into a fresh food like vegetable or fruit. This is then pricked onto the person's skin to visualize if there is any reaction. There are other skin tests which are less accurate then the one mentioned above. This is because the protein that is responsible for the allergic reactions may be broken down during the process of making the testing materials.
