Raccoon Repellent Home Remedies
Raccoon repellent home remedies are essential as raccoons are inventive animals. They are very smart in finding out the food which is kept in boxes and protected well. If there are garbage cans, food sources in the garden, the raccoons for sure visit your gardens and farms. Raccoons eat animals and plants too. - Ro-pel: The most important thing you can do is remove the garbage and food source from farms and gardens frequently. But in case it is not possible, spray Ro-pel on the garbage bags. It prohibits raccoons from ruining mulch and lawn furniture.
- Raccoons are sensitive to taste and odor. Spray powdered pepper around the garden, near garbage cans and raccoon entering areas in the garden.
- Scarecrows: Scarecrows can work to drive away the Raccoons. If sound and light is added to the scarecrow, it works better.
- Random Sounds: Random noises with piercing light helps to keep your garden or farm free from raccoons. Start the random sounds like barking sound, screaming sound etc. just before from sunset. The sounds should be audible at random intervals so that raccoons shouldn't guess about the sound schedule and remain scared and can't enter the field or farm.
- Sprinklers: Most of the animals don't like water sprinkled on them. So arrange some sprinklers at the possible entry places in the garden, near garbage dumping or water places in the garden. The sensor operated sprinklers serve the purpose at their best.
- Snake-away: Spray the snake away repellent around the garden. It is one of the highly effective ways to get rid of raccoons entering in the gardens and farms.
- Raccoon Repellent Recipe: Take 1 tablespoon of Cayenne pepper, Jalapeno pepper and one chopped yellow onion. Boil it in water, strain it and spray it in the garden. Repeat it once every after 4 -5 days.
- Ammonia: Raccoons can't bear with the smell of Ammonia. Spray some ammonia around the garden to keep them away.
- Cucumber: Plant cucumber plants near the fencing. Raccoons don't like the smell of cucumber. They don't prefer to go through the prickly vines.
- Electric Fence: Electric fence definitely keeps the raccoons away but it is costly solution.
- Sensor Operated Lighting: The lights are made on when the raccoon touches or enters in the periphery of the sensors. It threatens them and prohibits them from entering and ruining your garden.
- Raccoons are reluctant to the smell of the dog urine. So you can put the dogs in the garden or on the farms to keep raccoons away.
Raccoons can put you in great trouble, as they like vegetables and fruits due to which your garden may get destroyed. They eat chickens, pond fishes too. So some remedies are to be followed to keep the raccoons away. Though sometimes one gets wild and feel like killing the animals, remember do not shoot or poison them.
